Mountain Biking

Discover the wonders of the Great Glen Way by bike

For good reason, The Great Glen Way is one of the most popular cycling routes in Britain, with thousands travelling globally to complete it every year. Spanning a whopping 73 miles from Inverness to Fort William, this is not a route for the faint hearted and we recommend setting aside 3 days if you are aiming to take on the full challenge.

But what makes this route superior to the other paths, trails and parks in Britain?

A winning combination of incredible panoramic views, a variety of terrains and the people you meet along the way, make it a compulsory accomplishment for any keen mountain bikers bucket list. The route also runs through some great food and drink spots, where you can taste traditional haggish and sip some of the best beer in Scotland.

If you don’t fancy taking on the whole route but fancy a few hours cycling, there are an abundance of novice and intermediate cycle routes on the doorstep of our Canalside Cottages. You can find out more here about mountain and road bike routes for a range of abilities.
