Historic Sites

Take a walk back in time...

Perched on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the market town of Richmond dates back to at least 1071 when the iconic Richmond Castle was constructed by Breton Alan Rufus, as allowed by William The Conquerer.

There are a huge variety of fascinating, cultural and historic sites to visit just within Richmond alone - even just walking amongst the narrow, cobbled streets allows visitors to image a different age, and the myriad of life that has existed in this spectacular region.
