An ideal base camp to take full advantage of Cornwall's adventures, the charming hamlet of St Mewan is just 15 minutes from the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project, both of which have international acclaim as the best day visitor attractions in the South-West. For those ready to take on the sights on foot, the award-winning South West Coast Path is easily accessible from our St Mewan holiday cottages, providing miles and miles of glorious trails and vantage points.
Blessed with an incredible natural larder, Cornwall is also home to a wealth of unmissable restaurants serving succulent seafood, indulgent homemade bakes and Michelin-star creations. St Mewan is a short hop to the popular Polgooth Inn, where families and friends can enjoy traditional pub dishes crafted from their kitchen garden in front of the roaring log fire or out on the spacious, sunny deck. This iconic pub has stood since the 16th century and once served as the 'pay house' for the richest mine in the United Kingdom, located in Polgooth village. There is also a charming little general store where you can buy your basic groceries and enjoy a friendly chat.
To explore the region on two wheels, St Austell's warren of China Clay trails provide the perfect opportunity to take in the landscape. Winding their way around the historic landscape, the trails provide a traffic-free experience for cyclists of all ages, taking in aquamarine pools of water, rocky towers that once served as chimneys and a myriad of beautiful flora and fauna.
