A luxury escape to Holywell Bay

Holywell Bay is an extremely popular holiday destination with families, and it is not difficult to see why. The bay itself is a picture perfect Cornwall escape with sparkling blue water, golden sands and rustling sand dunes. Crantock Beach is either a short drive or a very scenic walk away which will take you along the coastline and past a number of local highlights including, the West Pentire poppy field and Holywell Cave which is known as one of the most fascinating natural sites in Britain and thought to have healing powers for those who enter.

Perranporth Beach also sits to the south of Little Croft and this award-winning beach has everything for a fun-filled day at the seaside, including  surfing, boogie boarding, boat trips and much more - it’s dog-friendly and even has its own beach bar - The Watering Hole!

There is no shortage of adrenaline inducing water sports in the area for all those thrill-seekers, with plenty of lessons and activities on offer. Places such as EBO Adventure offer a wide range of water activities for all ages and Big Green Adventures, an award-winning activity provided, have trained professionals who will get you standing up on a surf board in no time.

If you're looking to venture a little further into town and see more of the surrounding sights and local attractions you have Newquay right on your doorstep. Here you will find plenty to keep the little ones entertained such as Newquay Zoo where you can meet lots of amazing species from armadillo to zebra! You can see carnivore feeding, and even help feed the penguins and the meerkats yourself.

There is also the Blue Reef Aquarium which has hundreds of species, tropical and local to the Cornish coast, the whole family will be amazed by this aquatic adventure. Or have an aquatic adventure of your own at Newquay Leisure World which boasts a 6 lane, 25 metre pool and "Tropical Fun Pool", perfect for a day of splashing fun if the weather turns wet.

If you’re seeking out some history and culture you can pay a visit to Trerice, an Elizabethan manor house with beautiful gardens to wander through before you stop for a spot of traditional Cornish cream tea at the Barn Café. Venture down to the historic Newquay Harbour, the place were the town got its name, and immerse yourself in one of Newquay’s most historic and picturesque locations.

The beautiful town of Perranporth features a free museum where you can learn about the rich local history, there is even a little ‘Poldark’ memorabilia for any TV buffs as Perranporth was home to the novels’ writer, Winston Graham.

St Piran’s Oratory is buried in the dunes of Penhale Beach, north of Perranporth. The remains of this  6th century ancient chapel are one of the oldest Christian sites in Britain and believed to have been built by St Piran himself – the patron saint of Cornwall. Surely worth a visit!

When you’re tired out at the end of a busy day and in need of a hearty meal and a glass of your favourite tipple, there are many delicious eateries to try in the Holywell area.
