RHS Garden Rosemoor is just a short drive from the resort and throughout the season you will find spectacular horticultural displays. From the bright colours of spring to the orange hues of autumn, the vast display of flowers is magnificent to see. There are even music and events to enjoy in the more clement summer months.

Venture a little further to the coast and you will find the Valley of Rocks, a stunning U-shaped valley, parallel to the sea, known for is wonderful, wild goats that roam freely across the beautiful terrain. After a long day of exploring you can treat yourself to a bite to eat at The Old Bank in Lynton, which specialises in delicious seasonal produce. Try the Oak Room, a cosy tapas restaurant that also uses locally sourced, tasty delights.

For those wishing to learn a little more about the history of the area Watermouth Castle in just under an hour drive from the resort and well worth the visit. This top family attraction sits right on the coastline with stunning views out toward the Channel. Built by the Basset family in the mid-1800s the Castle now hosts a museum, water shows, labyrinths, gardens and adventure rides.

In a more south-easterly direction you will find the very impressive Exeter Cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of Exeter, built in the early 1400’s. One of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the UK, this church has remained standing through a tumultuous history and today hosts fascinating tours as well as a small gift shop and café.

Arlington Court and National Trust Carriage Museum is an impressive regency house on the edge of  Exmoor.  The estate has been held by the Chichester family for over five hundred years and boasts a collection of many treasures from model ships to shells collected over several generations. Surrounded by footpaths, Victoria gardens and pretty scenery, it is the ideal place to stop and enjoy a little afternoon tea.

For those happy to pull on their walking boots and do a little more exploration on foot, Eggesford Forest is just a short distance from the resort. You can pack up a picnic and wander into the rich woodland. Exmoor National Park is also a 30 minute drive away where you can enjoy walking, riding, rockpooling and magnificent stargazing as the park plays host to one of the most impressive UK Dark Skies Festivals every year.

Exmoor Zoo also promises a fantastic and fascinating day out. Mingle with Meerkats and discover the Black Leopard exhibit in the UK.

If you have young kids looking for something a little more fast-paced there are theme parks within and hour’s drive of The Mole Resort. Crealy Theme Park is an award-winning family theme park which boasts over 60 rides and attractions, so there is plenty for a fun-filled day. There is also the Milky Way Adventure Park, another award-winning family day out with rides, soft play area and lots of delicious treats to enjoy along the way.
