Nuthatch Cottage

Nuthatch Cottage is a delightful single-storey retreat named after the small, plump bird that resembles a woodpecker. Built in 1665 and beautifully converted in the 1980s, this charming cottage is nestled within 20 acres of tranquil private woodland. It offers an idyllic backdrop for experiencing the best of Cornwall, from stunning rural landscapes to breath-taking coastal beauty spots.

Tawnamoor offers easy access to a variety of local attractions in Bodmin and within half a mile, you'll find Cardinham Woods, a stunning expanse of woodland featuring cycling trails, mountain bike trails, walking paths, and running routes. After your adventures, relax at the lovely café serving fantastic food and drink.

As you stroll up the cobbled steps, you are welcomed into a cosy living space that radiates charm and comfort. The wooden-beamed ceilings and wood-burning fireplace enhance the room's character, creating an inviting atmosphere to be enjoyed throughout the year. Plush armchairs sit opposite a Smart TV, perfect for snuggling up to watch a movie or simply putting your feet up after a busy day.

The cottage features a compact yet well-appointed kitchen equipped with everything you may need for your stay. Enjoy modern appliances including an oven, hob, dishwasher, kettle, and a Nespresso coffee machine, along with a full set of glassware, cookware, and tableware for preparing romantic meals at the rustic wood breakfast bar.

On warmer evenings, step outside to your private stone patio, where outdoor seating and a BBQ await. And for the ultimate relaxation, sink into the warm, bubbling waters of your wood-fired hot tub - a perfect spot to unwind under the stars and soak in the tranquility of nature. Guests can enjoy the hot tubs at no extra cost, with a complete set of instructions provided for ease of use.

The spacious master bedroom continues the whimsical charm with exposed Cornish stone walls and vaulted ceilings. The king-size bed, adorned with soft bedding, promises a restful night’s sleep, and there’s plenty of storage for your belongings.

The bedroom is served by a well-sized bathroom featuring a bath and an over-bath power shower. Fresh towels and complimentary Made for Life Organics toiletries—including shampoo, hand soap, and body wash—are provided for your comfort.

The Cottages at Tawnamoor are committed to sustainability, featuring solar panels, a small wind turbine, and its own water borehole, providing deliciously fresh water. High-speed broadband is available throughout the property, ensuring you stay connected during your stay.

Nuthatch Cottage welcomes your furry friends! If you’re bringing pets along, we provide dog bowls and treats to ensure your pets feel right at home. A small pet fee of £50 applies. The cottages feature a screened, enclosed garden space which is perfect for keeping your pet safe as they enjoy the outdoors. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for dogs breeds which are not permitted.

• There is a laundry service exclusively available to Nuthatch in the Meeting & Event Space
• Smoking and vaping are not permitted on site.
• The cottage has designated parking and there is also secure bike and equipment storage.
• There is EV charging available for those travelling with an electric vehicle. 

Exclusive use

The site is available to book on an exclusive basis to allow guests full use of the site in their own private Cornish retreat. Speak to our concierge team to enquire.

Meeting Room & Event Space

This facility is available for booking as an additional space and offers high-speed Wi-Fi, a fridge, tea and coffee amenities, dining space, and a TV, a darts board, (as well as a washer-dryer—exclusively accessible to Nuthatch guests). The space is available at a cost of  £150 + VAT per day. However, if guests have booked the entire site for exclusive use, this facility, along with the upcoming sauna and spa area, and all three cottages are included in the daily rate of £1,000 per night. This space can also be booked independently on a daily basis for work, meetings, or studio use.
