The Dairy House

The Dairy House is a charming, Grade II listed ham-stone cottage set within the private parkland of Dillington House. This detached hideaway features historic details like mullioned windows, oak beams, and a large fireplace with a wood-burning stove. One of its standout features is the secluded garden, stone terrace and large garden room which allows you to enjoy the surroundings in any weather. There's also a luxurious wood-fired hot tub with views over the parkland. 

The house boasts a large open plan kitchen, dining and living room which combines modern designed furnishings with its traditional fixings.

The main sitting room features a 55" internet-connected TV with a Bluetooth soundbar, perfect for streaming music, radio, or enjoying a movie night. Sumptuous sofas and a wood-burning stove set in a large stone fireplace add to the cosy atmosphere.

Next door, a separate snug offers a more private space to unwind, ideal for quiet reading or as a second TV room, making it a great spot for kids while adults relax in the main living area.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with two electric ovens, a large induction hob and kitchen island for prepping and serving, so cooks can indulge their passion. There is also a dishwasher and a separate utility room with washing facilities.

The dining table seats 16 and there is a wood-burning stove set into a large old fireplace surrounded by two sofas for extra comfort.

Just off the kitchen, a garden room overlooks the lawn and opens onto a beautiful, secluded garden. Surrounded by mature native and exotic trees, it offers a peaceful, private retreat from the surrounding parkland, perfect for morning coffee or quiet reflection.

The garden features a wild wooded area for nature lovers and little explorers, a wood-fired hot tub with parkland views, and a stone terrace with a teak dining set, ideal for al fresco meals in warmer months.

Bedrooms:

The house has seven bedrooms, four in the main house and three in the “cowshed”, which is a converted barn a few yards from the main house, these can be setup differently depending on how many doubles / singles are required. And there are deep mattresses, 400 thread count cotton bedding, indulgent mattress toppers and fluffy bathrobes.

Main House

• Bedrooms 1: Master en-suite has a super-king sized wooden sleigh bed.
• Bedroom 2: Zip & link bed that can be arranged as super king or as twin singles. This bedroom also features an ensuite.
• Bedroom 3: Bunk room that can accommodate three if needed, with one on a pull-out trundle bed kept under the bunk.
• Bedroom 4: Zip & link bed that can be arranged as super king or as twin singles. This room shares a main bathroom with the bunk room.

Cowshed

• Bedroom 5: Zip & link double that can also be setup as a twin. Shares a main bathroom with the bunk room.
• Bedroom 6: Bunk room accommodates two or three in the same way as the bunk in the main house.
• Bedroom 7: Zip & link double that can also be setup as a twin. Features an en-suite.

The Dairy House sits within the private parkland of Dillington House, offering total privacy with access to both the surrounding park and the cottage's own garden. Several excellent pubs are nearby, some within walking distance, like the Barrington Boar, and others worth a short drive or cycle, such as The Dinnington Docks and Lord Poulett Arms.

Local attractions include Barrington Court (National Trust), Dillington House, and Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp, perfect for a visit to the tea rooms. Cider lovers can explore nearby orchards and presses, including Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake and Julian Temperley’s cider brandy distillery at Burrow Hill.

Further afield, the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis are about 40 minutes south, while the Hauser & Wirth gallery in Bruton lies roughly 40 minutes east.
