This 17th Century, Grade II listed farmhouse combines exceptional, contemporary living with the traditional charm of a once-working farm. Layered with history, Atherstone Farmhouse tells a story of years gone by with its thatched roof, original stone floors, ancient oak beams and grand fireplaces.

Split over both the upper and lower floors to cater to multi-generational families (or those needing a little bit of space!) the Farmhouse’s bedrooms are all lavishly decorated and offer a truly sumptuous sleep. All of the en-suite bedrooms have beautiful mattresses and cosy mattress toppers, 400-thread count cotton bedding and the fluffiest bathrobes for lazy mornings. The ground floor room comes equipped with a super-king, four-poster bed, fireplace with wood-burning stove and deep roll-top bathtub. Stepping upstairs, each bedroom can be set up as a super-king or twin (with one of the rooms boasting an additional 2 bunk-beds for little ones). The en-suite bathrooms upstairs have either a bath with over-head shower, or tiled walk-in showers.

Downstairs, the spacious, open-plan kitchen has a large dining area (seating 10), meaning that the nominated chef doesn’t have to miss out on the group bonding! The kitchen itself comes equipped with an induction hob, double oven and a large fridge-freezer with ice machine. Leading off this space, there is a useful, separate utility room with laundry facilities.

Retiring to the sitting room, guests can find a wood-burning stove set into a large stone fireplace alongside a 55’’ flat screen, internet-connected TV with Bluetooth sound bar and a Bluetooth DAB radio sound system.

Stepping outside, Atherstone Farmhouse has a good-sized lawn, with a variety of outdoor, teak furniture and charcoal BBQ for entertaining friends and drinking in the wonderful atmosphere of the Somerset countryside. There is also ample private, parking space for 4 cars.

Atherstone Farmhouse can be rented as a four-bedroom holiday home (sleeping 10) or can be opened via an interconnecting corridor, to combine it with Atherstone Farm Cottage to create an expansive six-bedroom property (sleeping 14).

Ideally placed to explore it’s rural location, the cottage is on the doorstep of plenty of pubs, restaurants and things to do, most of which are accessible on foot or by bicycle. The tiny hamlet of Atherstone is home to some fantastic little inns that are worth stopping into; including the Barrington Boar, Dinnington Docks and the Lord Poulett Arms. The town of Ilminster is also not too far away, for convenient shopping trips to stock up on essentials.

Barrington House, a National Trust house with gardens open to the public, is nearby, as is Dillington House. The Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp are also very close and worth a visit, for the tea rooms as much as anything else! There are several local cider producers including Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake and Julian Temperley’s cider and cider brandy distillery over at Burrow Hill. Just 40 minutes away, the beach at Lyme Regis and walks along the Jurassic coastline are well worth adding to your itinerary.
