An idyllic cottage with awe-inspiring views of a wildflower meadow and private garden

Nestled just across a country lane from The Mews, Shepherd’s Cottage is a semi-detached property, which was previously home to those who worked the farm. The cottage has been refurbished to seamlessly blend its modern features with rustic wooden touches which nod authentically to its rural origins. The beauty of chunky wooden beams, a roaring log-burner and traditional chestnut flooring (sourced from trees grown on the farm), add to its homely ambience.

Downstairs, the open-plan kitchen/living area provides ample space with the living room area located to the front of the house. There is a modern, fully-equipped kitchen, which has a brand new shaker style kitchen installed, complete with stone worksurfaces, a table which extends to accommodate six comfortably - perfect for leisurely breakfasts around the kitchen table. There is also an original slate floor which adds to the rustic and farmhouse character. Towards the back of Shepherd’s Cottage is a spacious shower and utility room, complete with shower, toilet, sink and a washer/dryer.

The upstairs is fitted with stairgates top and bottom, and leads to the master king-sized bedroom, which has an inside washbasin and a wide sash window with awe-inspiring views over the surrounding fields and woodland. Upstairs there is also a snug twin bedroom and a second slightly smaller room, equipped with bunk beds. There is a family bathroom also located on this floor, which boasts an old-fashioned bath where you can enjoy a deep, bubbly soak after a day spent exploring.

Walking out of the back door you will be led into a sprawling, yet secure, garden with a patio, outdoor furniture, a BBQ for summer evenings, washing line and fully stocked log shed. At the bottom of the garden there is a gate which can be followed through to the charming wildflower meadow and a play area for the little ones – complete with tractor!

As well as central heating, there is a log-burner which guests are free to use in one of the lounges. All the bed linen is of superior quality (100% cotton); fluffy towels, tea-towels, bath mats and environmentally friendly cleaning materials are also provided. All guests will have a local organic milk in the fridge ready for your arrival, along with eco-friendly toilet rolls, Fair Trade tea, coffee, sugar and locally-produced organic herbal tea to help you get settled into full holiday mode.

Carswell Farm have teamed up with a local company to offer HOT TUB HIRE to guests. Either; simple hot tub hire for 2 nights for £150, or a hot tub with jets for 3 nights at £250. Call our Concierge for details.
