Autumn in the Yorkshire Dales

Golden Leaves, Stargazing & Long Walks...

One of the best times to visit the Yorkshire Dales is in the Autumn, with our luxury lodges in Yorkshire providing everything you need to make your trip unforgettable.

From the longer, warmer nights in September, when you can still immerse yourself in greenery, to the slightly cooler October weather which is ideal for long walks. November is then the perfect time for cosy pub meals, stargazing and firework displays.

Below we list just some of the reasons why Autumn is the best time to visit the Dales.

Golden Colours

Our lodges are situated in a woodland valley, surrounded by towering trees, thick bushes and an abundance of greenery. Watching the trees transform to the most awe-inspiring palettes of golds, reds and browns in the autumn is a truly memorable moment.

Due to our lodges being fully glass fronted, guests literally have front row seats to a natural theatre, providing a fascinating display of nature at its best.

Darker Nights

North Yorkshire is famous for its dark skies, even having their own 'Dark Skies Festival' each year to celebrate the star studded skies.

The shorter nights in late October and November time provide a great opportunity to snuggle up on the deck in the deckchairs, wrapped in blankets to do some stargazing with hot chocolates. With our lodges being situated in their own woodland valley the skies are even darker, making the view even more incredible.

The Pubs

It's no secret that Yorkshire is pub-land, with some of the best pubs in the country found in North Yorkshire. The cosy Yorkshire pubs are best enjoyed when it’s colder outside and you can nip in for a pie and a pint, often next to a log fire and friendly atmosphere.

We recommend the George & Dragon in Hudswell, Richmond, an award-winning pub, famed for it's real ales and whiskey offering. Their mouth watering food menu features all of the proper pub classics and more, and it's only 10 minutes from our lodges!

Long Walks/Hikes

Autumn is one of the best months for long walks and hikes, when it's slightly cooler but not too cold, allowing you to happily spend all day outdoors.

If the weather is wet our lodges are equipped with storage for walking boots and equipment, that are placed over a heating vent in order to dry quickly - allowing you to get back outdoors early the next day.

Cosy Atmosphere

Our lodges are perfectly suited for colder weather with log fires, wooden floors that retain all the heat, big snuggly beds and large bubbly bathtubs, making them the perfect cosy retreat In late October and November especially.

The added touches we include such as cute crockery sets, additional blankets for the living area, Sky TV and more make it the ultimate woodland escape.

Outdoor Events

Finally October and November are filled with an amazing line-up of local events. From bonfires and firework displays to Halloween events for kids, there is plenty to keep you entertained. Our site manager, Amanda also runs a pumpkin competition on site for little ones (and adults are of course welcome to join too...)
