Salary: £26,000
Contract: Permanent – Full Time (37.5 hours/week)

In a Nutshell

Reporting to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, the Duty Manager will play a central role in ensuring Lews Castle delivers an exceptional experience to all guests and visitors. This hands-on operational role focuses on service excellence, smooth daily operations, and overseeing both food and beverage operations in The Storehouse as well as housekeeping across the Castle. You will also support events and help maintain the high standards and reputation of Lews Castle.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Service

  • Assist in all aspects of running the Castle, including organising Storehouse food and beverage activity, event planning and delivery, housekeeping, site maintenance, and health & safety.
  • Check in guests, respond to telephone queries, and handle on-site issues or emergencies professionally.
  • Support the senior management team in understanding the financial operation of the site and contribute to delivering a profitable operation.
  • Work with the Central Office to ensure system requirements, stock levels, and reservation or event queries are accurately maintained and updated.
  • Take responsibility for the security and smooth running of the Castle in the absence of the GM or AGM.

The Storehouse & Events

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of The Storehouse, ensuring legal compliance, particularly with liquor licensing.
  • Maintain back-of-house areas, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and organised.
  • Coordinate with Central Office and on-site teams to deliver weddings, corporate events, and promotional events seamlessly.
  • Ensure the team is prepared and briefed for events, with correct setups, information, and resources.

Team Leadership

  • Engage, develop, and support team members to deliver excellent service to guests from check-in through to housekeeping.
  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate and team members are deployed productively.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure all team members are trained in food safety, hygiene, COSHH, and all relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Champion the team’s development, encouraging ongoing learning, progression, and adherence to company service standards and competencies.

Brand & Commerciality

  • Maintain clear communication across all areas of the business, including subcontractors, the AGM, and GM.
  • Undertake other duties as required to ensure smooth site operations.
  • Represent Lews Castle and Together Travel with professionalism at all times, promoting the brand and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
