Two Dog beach walks in North Cornwall

Daymer Bay to Polzeath via Greenaway:

This route links Daymer Bay and the surf town of Polzeath, both highlighted in the North Cornwall beach list, and also sits close to Rock Beach on the Camel Estuary. You get dune backed sand, rocky coves and wide estuary views, with a worthwhile detour to St Enodoc Church if you want a little history on the route. Polzeath and nearby Rock both have dog friendly pubs and cafés, including waterside spots such as the Mariners in Rock, which frequently appear in dog friendly pub round ups.

Watergate Bay to Bedruthan Steps via Mawgan Porth:

Newquay headlands and Fistral circular: 

This circular centres on Fistral Beach and also links with Great Western, Towan and Tolcarne, making it an obvious choice if you are staying in Newquay and working through the Mid Cornwall beach list. Carne Beach to Kiberick Cove: 

This Roseland route starts at Carne very close to Caerhays Beach and follows the South West Coast Path over headlands towards Kiberick Cove. Two Dog beach walks in South Cornwall

Fowey to Polridmouth Cove: 

This coast path walk links naturally with Readymoney Cove in Fowey and can easily be extended towards Lantic Bay, tying together two beaches from the South Cornwall list. Expect wooded path sections, open sea views and a sheltered cove at the far end; Fowey itself has several dog friendly pubs and cafés for a post walk treat.

Talland Bay to Polperro: 

This route begins at Talland Bay, one of the standout year round dog beaches in the table and follows the South West Coast Path to the fishing village of Polperro. National Trust and local walking guides class it as a moderate coastal walk with big views, and both Talland and Polperro offer dog friendly places to eat and drink after your walk.

 

Final tips for planning your dog friendly trip

Cornwall Council updates its beach restrictions every few years via a Public Spaces Protection Order, so always double‑check the latest rules for your chosen beach before you travel and again on local signage when you arrive. Most restricted beaches only exclude dogs between 10am and 6pm from 1st July to 31st August, with longer seasons on some Blue Flag beaches from 15th May to 30th September.

It also pays to plan around tides and heat when you are exploring with a dog. Low tide usually gives you much more sand to play on, while early morning or evening visits in hot weather help dogs avoid overheating on packed beaches. Fresh water, shade, a current ID tag and good recall near cliffs or livestock are all strongly recommended by dog welfare and insurance providers when heading to the beach.
