Aber Falls Christmas Market
Where? Abergwyngregyn
When? 10th December

The festive season would not be the same without a visit to one of the Christmas markets in North Wales. There’s the Aber Falls Christmas Market in Abergwyngregyn, which features local produce and crafts. This market offers food, drinks, entertainment, and shopping, and there are some have offerings that are unique to their location. If Christmas markets are one of your favourite things about the season, North Wales is the place to be during the holidays.

Santa Trains run from Caernarfon, Gwynedd, the former offering a Christmas adventure aboard a vintage steam train, and the latter running through beautiful Snowdonia National Park with Santa himself.

The Enchanted Forest is a magical experience in an illuminated forest of glistening trees, complete with arts and crafts and a visit with Father Christmas.

 

Anglesey Zoo Christmas Markets

When? 10th, 11th, 17th, and 18th December 2022

You can visit the Anglesey Zoo Christmas Markets and have breakfast with Santa for the first 3 weekends of December or an afternoon with Elsa! This popular Christmas event in North Wales has plenty to do, including Santa’s Grotto.

 

Zipmas at Zip World in Snowdonia
Where?  Llechwedd
When? 25th November – 24th December

Starting to feel like you have had too much Santa this season? Come for afternoon tea with Elsa instead. You can celebrate Zipmas at Zip World in Snowdonia, meeting Santa and his Elves in the underground Christmas Grotto, 500 feet underground in the historical Victorian slate mines, where you’ll have fun decorating a Welsh slate bauble and enjoying complimentary mince pie, hot chocolate, or mulled wine. Try your hand at a round of “Grotto Golf” while you are there, playing on the world’s only underground adventure golf.

 

Manorafon Farm Park Christmas Adventure

If you’re willing to take a short trip, Manorafon Farm Park Christmas Adventure takes place in Santa’s Village, with a visit to the Toy Factory, Mrs. Claus’s Kitchen, the Enchanted Christmas Tree Forest, Santa’s Stables, Elves, Market, and story time with Santa Claus.

 

Gwrych Castle

When? 10th - 11th and 17th – 23rd December 2022

Christmas at Gwrych Castle features a visit to the Elf Academy, a scavenger hunt, the chance to meet Santa, and more.

 

RNLI Porthdinllaen New Year's Day Dip
Where? Llŷn Peninsula
When? 1 January 2023, 11.30pm

Is there a more stunning location than the Llyn Peninsula beach, a beautiful seafront of the North Shore. On New Year’s Day, swimmers gather on Morfa Nefyn at night to take a plunge into the beautiful but chilly ocean. You can join in an active tradition, or just watch and cheer.

 

Beaches, Walks, Charming Cafes and Activities

If you are ready for a break from all the activities, set your own pace, playing by the shore, hiking in the countryside, or spending a leisurely day out at the shops and enjoying a long lunch in a charming café. Wake to a stunning winter sunrise, head to Snowdonia for a brisk winter walk with a view of the snow-capped mountains, and end the night by stargazing in the countryside, without the light pollution that hinders the view in much of the UK. On blustery days when going out into the wild weather does not appeal to you, enjoy some down time beside a cosy fire, in your cottage or in a local pub.

Even if you are not interested in Christmas-themed activities, though, you will never run out of things to do while staying in one of our beautiful properties in North Wales. The Llyn peninsula itself will keep you occupied for as long as you will let it, but when you are ready to head further afield, you are within easy reach of an abundance of things to do and see.

A short drive away, take a dramatic clifftop walk down to Porthdinllaen beach and stop by the Ty Coch Inn. One of the most famous pubs in the area, this inn was featured on a top ten list of the best bars in the world! Have a drink and relax for a bit while watching the fishing boats pull in their catch.

 If you head the opposite direction leaving your holiday cottage, you can visit Nant Gwrytheyrn to discover the history of the Welsh language and the mining heritage so important to this area. Bring your boots because there are many trails to explore. It does not really matter which direction you go when you step outside of your holiday rental, because everywhere you turn you will find beautiful beaches, picturesque seaside villages, and much more.

Snowdonia National Park is a short drive away, where you will find not only wild natural beauty, including the iconic Mt. Snowdon, but also outdoor adventures like the world’s fastest zipline, alpine forest coasters, and zip safaris.
