Blessed with an incredible natural pantry, Cornwall excites the senses when it comes to it's culinary line-up. Feeling peckish? Check out our personal recommendations below:

For locally caught seafood...

A true local's favourite, the succulent seafood at Salamander's is definitely one for your Cornish bucket list! With tempting dishes such as their 'Hot Crab Pot, Smoked Salmon Fritters and buttery Mevagissey scallops', there's plenty to choose from. Expect true home cooking, with fantastic local ingredients cooked simply and very well.

For local brews and harbour views...
The Sharksfin

As part of the St Austell Brewery family, this popular waterfront hangout serves an incredible array of drinks to enjoy whilst taking in the famous Cornish sunsets through the bi-folding doors. Their menu is crammed with mouth-watering fusion dishes including Cornish Crab Mac & Cheese, Slow-braised Lamb Ragu and BBQ Bacon Prawns...

For traditional Cornish eats...
The Wheel House

Dating back to the 1820's, this atmospheric, low-ceiling harbourside pub has plenty of cosy corners for intimate chats and a sturdy bar to prop up those who are keen to sample the local tipples! The unpretentious menu is filled with good pub-grub, with delicious dishes such as homemade fish pie and hearty Cornish breakfasts to keep you full of energy to take on the local attractions.

For vegan, vegetarian & gluten-free options...
Harbour Tavern

Overlooking the shimmering water, this laid-back bar & kitchen is ideal for filling up on seasonal dishes before a days adventure. For those with dietary requirements, there are a wealth of options on the menu including Veggie Stack Burgers, Jackfruit Pizzas, Vegan Hot Dogs and gluten-free pastry pies, so even when self-catering, there's no need to miss out on epic holiday eats!

For iconic Cornish pasties...
The Cornish Bakery

Flaky, buttery and crammed full of fresh ingredients - a proper Cornish pasty is hard to beat! Luckily for visitors to this charming harbour town, the award-winning 'Cornish Bakery' originated on the streets of Mevagissey and produces such good bakes that its franchises are now found across Europe! Their pasties are baked daily, PGI protected and a real treat, with the potatoes, onions and swedes frown on Cornish farms with the beef reared on Cornish soil too.

For the best fish & chips....
The Fishermen's Chippy

A journey to the seaside is never quite complete without a really good portion of fish and chips, especially when the daily harbour haul is so fresh! The Fishermen's serve up the crispiest fish and fluffiest chips (soaked in salt and vinegar - if you enjoy them that way!), with guaranteed queues out of the door - testament to their incredible reputation! We recommend walking yours down to the pier, sitting on the harbour wall and watching the sun set over the sea...

For a taste of the continent...

Treat your tastebuds to the flavours of Portugal during your trip to the coast, where Alvorada serves up authentic mediterranean fayre, overlooking the scenic harbour and bobbing boats. Tuck into a mix and match of small plates combining the best of Cornish ingredients with Portugese flair, all washed down by their homemade sangria - felicidades!

For delicious health food...

A newer addition to the cobbled streets of Mevagissey, Fresk offers a healthy alternative to your traditional seaside treats. Whether opting for one of their DIY salad boxes stuffed with hummus, leaves and seeds, or plumping for their hearty breakfast breads and granola pots, you'll be sure to feel saintly (for at least one portion of your Great British getaway!)

For the fluffiest Cornish scones & cream teas...
Lighthouse Cafe

Serving a variety of freshly-made bakes, the jewel in the crown of Lighthouse's menu has to be their Cornish Cream Tea. Expect two soft and crumbly scones, Boddington's Berries strawberry jam and lashings of Rodda's Cornish clotted cream, topped off with a steaming pot of English breakfast tea. For those not so keen on sweet treats, their Savoury Cornish Tea is loaded with homemade Davidstow cheddar cheese scones, Cornish brie and roasted tomato chutney - divine!
