5 Indoor Days Out on the Llyn Peninsula

For the windy, wet & rainy days...

The Llyn Peninsula is known for stunning beaches and miles of coastal paths, but what do you do when the weather is a little worse for wear? We've compiled a list of our favourite indoor activities, all of which are at most a 1hr drive from our North Wales holiday cottages, near Nefyn Bay.

    Welsh Language Centre

Delve in to the traditions and history of the Welsh language, heritage and culture in a truly unique day out for adults and children alike. The heritage centre is filled with fascinating displays, photographs and information about the surrounding area, as well as a free exhibition which explains the story of the quarrying village of Port Nant, King Gwrtheyrn, Rhys and Meinir and much more.

As well as trying their computer games, which quiz you on place names, Victorian housewife’s daily chores and the Welsh culture, you can also visit the Quarryman’s Cottage, which is a complete replica of how a 1910's Quarryman would live.

In addition, there are many more activities to do at the Welsh Language Centre, such as sculptures to see, nearby walks (for if the sun comes out) and a cafe with stunning views, overlooking the sea. We would especially recommend their Sunday Lunch; to book a table visit their website

    The Warren Spa

If a tranquil day is what you're looking for then there's nothing better than a day at The Warren Spa in Abersoch. They have everything from all the massage and beauty treatments you'd expect to find in a spa, to unique experiences that you seldom come across.

Why not try their Caribbean Storm Show, which gives the sensation of a warm tropical rainforest, their Herbal Steam Room or their Ice Feature Room, which is designed to stimulate your circulation and oxygen intake, leaving you completely energised. You can find their full list of services here

    Zip World

Located in Snodownia National Park, this attraction is the furthest from our coastal cottages but at just one hour away, it's well worth the drive. Visit the world’s only subterranean playground of its kind, exploring the Slate Caverns and immersing yourself in adventure. For the young, or young at heart, Bounce Below is an underground net playground, where you can jump and slide your way around the course.

There are other activities too, such as their zip-wire and they even have a place where they will look after your dogs, so the whole family can go.

    Pwllheli Leisure Centre

Just a 20 minute drive away from our cottages at Nature's Point, Pwllheli Leisure Centre can keep you busy for hours, and is suitable for all ages. The leisure centre provides plenty of options if you're wanting to focus on your fitness, such as a 25m swimming pool, badminton courts, a fitness room and an indoor cycling studio. If you're wanting to go simply for a fun day out, splash around in the pool and take advantage of their water slide!

    Cwrw Llyn Brewery Tour

An educational day out with a tasting session, what could be better? Discover how the brewery works, how the beers are made and try a range of their craft beer, including IPAs and golden ales. The best bit, take some beers back with you for a truly Welsh inspired evening.
