From picturesque seaside fishing villages to world-famous beaches and extensive cycle paths which weave through the glorious land of South Cornwall, you are perfectly placed at Trewhiddle, to experience the best that Cornwall has to offer. As you will undoubtedly be feeling overwhelmed by the mass of activities and must-see sights that are available, we have compiled a bucket list, with our top picks to pencil into your holiday itinerary.:

1. Charlestown

Just 10 minutes from Trewhiddle, a visit to the charming Charlestown is a must on your Cornwall bucket list. Whether you are a Poldark fan or not, you will be left in awe by the unspoilt, original Grade II Listed Harbour, steeped in historical splendour. Wander around the historic fishing harbour and marvel at the decadent ships from times gone by. While visiting we recommend a visit to The Shipwreck & Heritage Centre, where you can find out more about the town’s rich maritime history.

2. Mevagissey

If you’re a seafood enthusiast we definitely recommend a day trip to Mevagissey, another delightful fishing village which is literally 10 minutes down the road from Trewhiddle! Popular with tourists for good reason, the town encompasses a tranquil harbour which you can stroll around, admiring the rows of colourful houses which surround the crystal waters. Famous for the tastiest mackerel and scallops, it’s definitely worth stopping by one of Mevagissey’s rustic little eateries when lunchtime arrives.

3. Eden Project

While you are in South Cornwall, you can’t miss a trip to The Eden Project, dubbed by some as the eighth wonder of the world. We recommend allocating a day to visit this amazing attraction – which provides a fascinating insight into human dependence on plant life. As well as being the world's largest rainforest in captivity with steamy jungles and waterfalls, Eden also boasts spectacular garden displays which are kept in excellent condition throughout the seasons. The Eden Project truly is an attraction which will appeal to any age group and is the perfect destination for a family day out (accessible for buggies, wheelchairs and dogs are also welcome, provided they are kept on a lead). What’s more? It’s only a 20 minute drive from Trewhiddle.

4. Carlyon Bay

Just 10 minutes from Trewhiddle, you will find the dreamy sands of Carlyon Bay – the perfect spot to pitch up for a picnic. The calm and shallow waters make it a safe splash zone for your little ones, letting them paddle to their hearts content. During the Summer months the beach comes to life, becoming an outdoor cinema venue, where you will also find live music and yoga – beachside! This little treasure is just 10 minutes from Trewhiddle, so can enjoy a relaxing beach day before kicking back in luxury at the retreat.
